The TCSP summer intern will support the efforts of the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County’s (BGCDC) Education Department by providing support to the TOPS College Success Team. This particular position will support the planning and execution of our summer College Transition Conference, summer event planning, data entry support, and strategic planning for the upcoming 2019-2020 programming year.

Specific Internship duties include:

Provide planning and logistical support leading up to the flagship program, College Transition Conference in late June/early July.

Create student-centered marketing flyers and messaging to communicate College Transition Conference details with students through social media, email and other marketing strategies.

Provide support on the day-of the College Transition Conference and next step follow-up with students.

Summer is typically a busy time for the finance department due to tax off-sets and federal deadlines. As a result, interns will gain experience with a complex financial and accounting department and will gain exposure to tax and corporate accounting. Ascendium’s corporate legal team engages in a number of community outreach efforts. The Legal summer intern will support both the potential startup of a legal clinic through a community college justice project and will also coordinate the legal team’s pro-bono work at a local neighborhood center. Digitizing land cover of park properties, mowing maps, crop leases, etc. Working on mobile collection apps to collect data as needed, digitizing Park Facilities Inventory in GIS, and taking engaging digital photos of park properties for web and inventory purchases.

Office work, including filing and scanning contracts, examining current promotion and marketing strategies to make recommendations for outreach, assisting with the “Backpack Explore” program, including checkout of backpacks and creating a kit for the center.

Outdoors work might include assisting with programs such as nature or bird wals, maintaining the garden areas around the building, or assisting with prairie restoration, tree planting, invasive removal, and plant watering.

Technology, art, and design roles might include taking photos of the local flora and fauna, creating digital tours of the facility, and updating kiosks on the property.
